GET BAD DRIVERS OFF THE ROAD

KEITH Frazier's July 28 letter to the editor (``End the demerit system``) says the Virginia traffic demerit system is a joke. The real joke is his contention that drivers can exhibit poor driving habits and be classified as ``safe.`` He further states that those who have lost the driving privilege due to multiple infractions of the driving laws pose no threat to the public.

Frazier is a very confused person if he believes that drivers with poor driving habits pose no threat to other Virginia drivers. People with poor driving habits are very unsafe, and definitely pose a threat to all others using Virginia's highways. They deserve the tickets and Division of Motor Vehicle points they are assigned as a result of their irresponsibility when behind the wheel of a motor vehicle.

Perhaps Frazier should talk to the family of the 9-year-old boy who was recently killed in North Roanoke. Would he have us believe the driver of the vehicle that killed the boy was not a threat to the public?
