PRIVATE DUTY, PUBLIC UNIFORM

TAX DOLLARS well spent?

Anyone going to the Electronic Audio sale at the old Bob Bell Nissan Building over the weekend was greeted by a Roanoke County Police officer in full uniform. This gentleman was there to provide security as well as being a bouncer to make sure that you paid the 3.00 entrance fee to look at their merchandise. Isn't it very strange that Roanoke County's finest are working outlet stores? A call to Roanoke County Police headquarters stated that the outlet did hire off-duty police officers as security. that is fine, but this individual was in full uniform with his police cruiser parked in front of the main door. These items are paid for by the tax payers. Is this our county's position? You hire our off-duty policement and we throw in a dress uniform and cruiser for free? According to Roanoke County, yes it is. I think not. Let's think a little bit, and use our resources more wisely.
