RU JOINS EFFORT TO BUILD ECONOMY

Radford University has joined Virginia Economic Bridge Initiative, an economic development partnership that links Virginia's northern and southwestern regions.

The university's representative is Meredith L. Strohm, provost of the New College of Global Studies.

The initiative will focus on building the Southwest Virginia economy by encouraging Northern Virginia firms to do business in the region. The partnership already has attracted several new businesses to the area, including an AT&T center that processes telephone calls for the hearing-impaired, and a branch office of Dewberry and Davis, a consulting engineering firm.

Other Virginia Economic Bridge Initiative members include Appalachian Power Co., George Mason University, Virginia Tech, New River Community College and several other community colleges.
