ROSENBERG NAMED TO NEW POSITION

Madelyn Rosenberg, the higher education writer for the Roanoke Times & World-News, has been named assistant editor of the newspaper's New River Valley bureau.

Rosenberg began working for the newspaper in 1989. In her four years here, she has covered local governments in Pulaski County, the police and courts beat for the New River Valley and higher education.

She is a graduate of Blacksburg High School and North Carolina State University.

She replaces Jack Chamberlain, who retired Aug. 1 after spending most of the last 30 years at the paper as a reporter covering education and higher education and as assistant editor in the New River Valley bureau since 1988.

As assistant editor, Rosenberg will be involved in supervising the local news operation carried out by the bureau's 20 full-time and part-time staff members.
