Diana Katherine Brant and William David Manning were married August 7,
1993, in Christ Episcopal Church in Marion, Va. The Rev. Michael J. Zumpf and
The Rev. Edgar T. Farrell performed the ceremony. The reception was held at
Holston Hills Country Club. The maid of honor was Elizabeth Burke Brant,
sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kelley Anne Davis, of Staunton, Va.,
Lisa Sterling Holcombe, of Atlanta, Ga., Tammy Suzette Jennings, of
Christiansburg, Va., Susan McLemore Manning, sister-in-law of the groom, of
Rome, Ga., Sarah Bradley Niolon, of Alpharetta, Ga., Lydia Elizabeth Reeves,
of Alpharetta, Ga., Elizabeth Evans Rucker, of Roanoke, Va., and Mary Irvin
York, of Charleston, S.C. The best man was Joseph Franklin Manning, father of
the groom. Ushers were David Brian Childers, of Pine Mountain, Ga., Robert
Fritchman Cole, of Lynchburg, Va., James Simeon Manning, brother of the groom,
of Pine Mountain, Ga., Thomas Hunter Manning, brother of the groom, of Rome,
Ga., Joseph Richard Niolon III, of Alpharetta, Ga., Simeon Manning Niolon, of
Alpharetta, Ga., Aulick Burke Rucker, of Roanoke, Robert Allen Shults, of
Austell, Ga., and Christopher Thomas Loret, of Springfield, Va. The guestbook
was attended by Rosemary Brant, cousin of the bride, of Wytheville, Va., and
Elizabeth Williams, of Marion, Va. The bride wore her mother's formal wedding
gown fashioned of candlelight satin. The bodice, designed with a scoop
neckline and elbow length sleeves, was embroidered with pearls. The skirt
terminated in a scalloped chapel train. She wore a silk illusion floor length
veil. She carried a cascading bouquet of gardenias, dendrobium orchids,
casablanca lilies, white roses, freesia, and stephanotis with ivy. The bride
is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hester Brant, of Marion, Va. She graduated
from Marion Senior High School in 1986 and from Mary Baldwin College in 1990.
The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.Joseph Franklin Manning, of Pine
Mountain, Ga. He graduated from Flint River Academy in 1987 and from Virginia
Military Institute in 1991. He is employed by Babcock and Wilcox Nuclear
Technologies in Lynchburg, Va. After the wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the
newlyweds will live in Lynchburg, Va.
