PHILPOTT-NAFF

Mary Ellen Naff and Benjamin Mark Philpott were married August 7, 1993, in Antioch Church of the Brethren at 7:00 p.m.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley W. Naff, Jr., of Boones Mill, Va., and granddaughter of Evelyn Hunt and the late George E. Hunt and Ethel Naff and the late W. W. Naff, Sr.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin C. Philpott of Warner Robins, Georgia, and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Philpott and Mr. and Mrs. Roby Blevins of Beckley, West Virginia.

Reverend Jerry Crouse performed the ceremony with scripture read by Chris Ciccone of Norfolk. A program of wedding music was performed by Tara Myers, pianist, and Leila Quinlan, vocalist. The couple exchanged vows in a setting with candelabra, ferns, aisle bows and flowers grown by the bride's father.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore her aunt's gown of lace and tulle with fitted bodice, portrait neckline, cap sleeves and gathered skirt with lace border and chapel train. She wore her maternal grandmother's crystal necklace and carried a cascade of white mini carnations, sweetheart roses, fresia and gardenia.

Dr. Bea Naff Cain of Pickens, S. C., was her sister's matron of honor. Her cousin Jennifer Davis of Radford was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Stacy Snyder, her cousin from Blacksburg; and friends, Tracey Webb or Orlando, Florida, Amy Burton of Skaneateles, N. Y., Suzanne Deibler of Christiansburg, Suzanne Szak of Leicester, N. C., and Jennifer Glenn of Alexandria, Va. They wore floor length gowns of wisteria pastels and carried baskets of flowers. Mary Jessica Naff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Naff and niece of the bride, was flower girl.

Benjamin C. Philpott was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Bill Agee of Raleigh, N. C., brother of the groom; Dr. Neal Naff of Baltimore, Md., Abe Naff of Ferrum and Wes Naff III of Boones Mill, all brothers of the bride; Mark Noland of Warner Robins, Ga.; Sam Shirley of Carrollton, Ga., and Radney Simpson of Atlanta, Ga. Hunter Naff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Naff III and nephew of bride, was ringbearer.

Jacob Naff, nephew of the bride, and Alex Hunt, cousin of the bride, were acolytes.

A reception was held at Waterfront Country Club.

The bride is a graduate of Sweet Briar College and will be teaching at the Augusta Preparatory Day School. The groom is a graduate of West George College and is a student at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
