Rebecca Lynn Sheppard, 25, and her brother-in-law, Eddie Ray Sheppard Sr., were struck while walking in the 600 block of Marshall Avenue Southwest.
Harold Elmer Gould, 36, of the 4000 block of Hershberger Avenue Northwest, was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious wounding Thursday night.
According to Roanoke police, the driver fled the scene and abandoned his truck in the northwest part of the city.
Rebecca Sheppard was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she died Friday from injuries sustained in the incident. Eddie Ray Sheppard was treated at Community Hospital and released.
The charges of malicious wounding were made before Sheppard's death. Gould could face other charges pending action by the Commonwealth's Attorney's office, police said. He is being held in Roanoke City Jail, with bail set at $15,000.
