OBIT SHELTON, JACK LEE
SHELTON, Jack Lee, Lt/C, ret, USAF, 63, of Vinton, passed away Saturday,
August 7, 1993, in a local hospital. Jack served as past president of the
Vinton Host Lion's Club from 1982 to 1983, and also served on the Vinton Town
Council from 1980 to 1988, and last served as Hospital Administrator at Gill
Memorial Hospital, and served the last 10 years as Shelton Management and Tax
Service from his home. He retired from the Air Force in July of 1973, after
serving 21 years. Surviving are his wife, Frances H. Shelton; one son and
daughter-in-law, Douglas C. and Cassandra L. Shelton of Vinton; a daughter and
son-in-law, Sandra S. and Dennis M. Brewer of Clarkston, Mich.; his mother,
Pocahontas B. Shelton of Vinton; two brothers, Ben Shelton of Roanoke and
David Shelton of Richmond; three sisters, Jean Raye Hamilton of Richmond,
Kathryn Koch of Richmond and Betty Joyce Turner of Roanoke; two grandchildren,
Peyden Shelton and Taylor Shelton; his father and mother-in-law, Murrell F.
and Lorene B. Holdren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August
9, 1993, from the Vinton Baptist Church. Dr. William L. Ross will be
conducting services with the Rev. Kevin Meadows assisting. Burial will follow
in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
memorial gifts may be made to the Vinton Baptist Church. The family will
receive friends at the Lotz Vinton Chapel.
