OBIT DELANCEY, DEWITT

DELANCEY, Dewitt, 81, of Penhook, died Friday, August 6, 1993, at his home. He was born August 8, 1911, the son of the late Hassie Elmer Delancey and Evie Maxie Delancey, was a member of the Sandy Level Baptist Church, and was retired from Beatrice Foods. Mr. Delancey was preceded in death by his wife, Olene Taylor Delancey and an infant son, Lowell Thomas Delancey. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, R. Wilfred and Nancy T. Delancey of Collinsville, a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Jean and Calvin W. Carter of Thaxton; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Angie Maxie of Rocky Mount, Ruby Barbour of Altavista, Estelle Mason of Rocky Mount, Eva A. Boitnott and Clarice Waldron, both of Glade Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 1993, at the Sandy Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cool Branch Rescue Squad. Arrington-Bussey Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge of arrangements.
