TERRY CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS

HOLD ON to your hats, Southside. Could be you are being flimflammed. I'm referring to the recent hullabaloo over the Lake Gaston pipeline.

With all of the blasting of George Allen on this issue, I bet you think Mary Sue Terry opposes the pipeline. Wrong. She may have led you to think that, but, just for the record, she is telling folks in the Hampton Roads area that she is strongly in favor of it and has indeed been working vigorously "for years" to see it put into operation.

We are nice people here in Southside, but we are not so gullible as to fall for this ploy to garner votes. Mary Sue Terry needs to remember her roots and that we, in these parts, cherish character and integrity. If she wants our support, she will have to deal with us in a more upright manner. Political campaigns that rely on deception do not succeed in Virginia. Lies didn't work for Bill Clinton and they won't work for her. MARILYN DELL MARTINSVILLE
