WOMAN, HIT BY CAR, DIES FROM INJURIES

Roanoke police refused to release any information Sunday night on an accident in which an unidentified pedestrian was fatally injured earlier in the day.

The victim, a woman believed to be in her late 30s or early 40s, died Sunday afternoon at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She apparently was not carrying any identification and had not been identified late Sunday night.

A hospital spokeswoman said the woman had suffered head and internal injuries. The spokeswoman said authorities hoped friends or relatives would miss the woman and contact the hospital or police.

The victim reportedly was struck by a car about 1:30 Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Brandon and Brambleton avenues in Southwest Roanoke.
