EX-LORD BOTETOURT GOLFER ON U.S. WALKER CUP TEAM

Five golfers, including former Lord Botetourt High School player Kelly Mitchum, were picked on Monday to complete the U.S. Walker Cup team. Mitchum attended Lord Botetourt as a sophomore.

Also chosen for the team were David Berganio of Sylmar, Calif.; Todd Demsey of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; Brian Gay of Daleville, Ala.; and Tim Herron of Wayzata, Minn.

They join Allen Doyle, John Harris, Justin Leonard, Jay Sigel and Danny Yates, who were selected earlier for the 34th Walker Cup competition. The alternates are Jaxon Brigman of Abilene, Texas, and Ron Whittaker of Little Rock, Ark. Marvin "Vinny" Giles of Richmond is the team's non-playing captain.

The United States, which leads 29-3-1 in the Walker Cup series, will play a team from England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales at Interlachen Country Club on Aug. 18-19 in Edina, Minn.
