GROCERY MANAGER ROBBED

Town police are investigating last week's strong-arm robbery of a Food Land manager as he left the store with a bank deposit.

Chief Leon Billos said Monday that the store's night manager was leaving the building Thursday at about 10:40 p.m. when a person stepped from around one side of the building and demanded the deposit.

The person then took the money from the night manager and fled into a nearby brushy area.

The manager was not hurt.

No one has been charged, but Billos said he does have some suspects.

"We've gotten a lot of help from the community," the chief said.

The store has changed its deposit procedure as a result of the robbery, Billos said.
