LOVE MAY BE BLIND, BUT NEIGHBORS WEREN'T

A Salem man given to afternoon trysts in his backyard hot tub has been told to build a fence or take his love life indoors.

Salem Commonwealth's Attorney Fred King wrote the man a letter last week after a neighbor complained that the man was carrying on in broad daylight.

The neighbor - told earlier that authorities could do nothing without evidence - videotaped the man and a woman making use of the hot tub one afternoon last week.

After viewing the tape, King concluded that neighbors have a legitimate complaint.

"You can't see anything [obscene], but you know darn well what is going on," King said.

In a letter mailed Thursday, King cautioned the man that further public displays could lead to possible criminal charges of indecent exposure.

The man, whose identity was not released, could not be reached for comment.
