MAN CHARGED IN SHOOTING RELEASED ON BOND

A Pulaski County man was released from jail Monday after posting bond on a charge stemming from the shooting of a county teen-ager Sunday evening.

Roger A. Crowder, 53, of Route 3, is charged with malicious wounding.

A 16-year-old Pulaski boy was shot in the left side and taken to Pulaski Community Hospital. A spokesman declined to release information on his condition Tuesday, citing the boy's age.

Berman Saunders, 18, also of Pulaski, was treated at Pulaski Community Hospital for a flesh wound and released.

The county Sheriff's Office said Crowder is accused of firing at a pickup truck in which Berman and the teen-ager were passengers.

The incident happened at the 10th Street extension outside the Pulaski town limits and apparently was the result of an earlier altercation between the group in the truck and a member of Crowder's family, officials said.

Although two people were struck by rifle-fire, only one charge has been entered.
