REISS RETURNS TO UVA AS AIDE

Tammi Reiss, a starting guard on Virginia basketball teams that played in the women's Final Four for three consecutive seasons, has accepted a position on UVa coach Debbie Ryan's staff.

Reiss, who has taken acting lessons during the past year and has worked at Ryan's camp for the past two summers, replaces Frank DiLeo.

DiLeo resigned as a full-time women's assistant at Virginia to become the restricted-earnings assistant to Iowa men's coach Tom Davis, who coached DiLeo at Lafayette. DiLeo, whose brother is an assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers, said his ultimate goal is to coach in the NBA.

Reiss, a May 1992 UVa graduate, ranks third on UVa's all-time scoring list with 1,842 points. The Cavaliers were 113-21 during her career.

Others interviewed by Ryan were restricted-earnings coaches Carolyn Jenkins of Stanford and Melissa Wiggins of Virginia.
