ETC. BOBBY ALLISON AT FCS IN SEPTEMBER

NASCAR legend Bobby Allison will make an appearance at Franklin County Speedway on Sept. 25, track officials said.

Allison, who has won three Late Model Stock races at the Callaway track, will serve as grand marshal and sign autographs.

Allison has not competed since a crash at Pocono in 1988. His son Clifford Allison was killed in August 1992 in a racing accident in Brooklyn, Mich., and another son, Winston Cup star Davey Allison, died in a helicopter crash in Talladega, Ala., in July.

Roanoke Post 3 North dropped its opening game in the state American Legion baseball tournament, losing 11-0 to McLean on Wednesday in Colonial Heights. Post 3 North will face Woodbridge at 10 a.m. today in a losers' bracket game.
