SWIM GROUP PRESENTS SCHOLARSHIP, AWARD

The board of directors of the Roanoke Valley Aquatics Association has presented its annual scholarship to Kathryn Willis, a member of the LancerLot Swim Team in Vinton.

The George Devins Athletic Scholarship is given in memory of Devins, who not only taught, but also worked with many Roanoke Valley swimmers.

Willis, a 1993 graduate of Virginia Western, will attend Tidewater College in Virginia Beach this fall.

The RVAA also presented its Duane Whitnack Award to Harry Cheney, a member of the Olympic Park swim team. The award is given to the person who contributes in an exceptional manner to promote swimming in the Roanoke Valley.
