GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL PLANS FAMILY SOCIAL

Incoming students at the Southwest Virginia Governor's School and their parents and other family members are invited to join the school staff Friday for a get-acquainted social at the school on the Pulaski County High School campus.

The gathering has been arranged by Parents in Education, an organization of parents of students at the regional school.

Activities will get under way at 6 p.m. The cost is $2 per person or a maximum of $10 per family, with proceeds going to student activities. A meeting of the parents will follow.

Margaret Duncan, the school's director, said the social will give the juniors and seniors from the nine participating localities a chance to meet each other before school starts.

"And the parents did this. This is the best PTA I have ever worked with in my life," she said.

People planning to attend should call Carol Armbrister (699-6237), Nanette Johnson (745-4420), Carolyn Spangler (726-3548) or Cheri Warburton (980-8008).
