COMPETITION FOR POINTS TITLES STILL HOT

The points races are beginning to take shape at Franklin County Speedway as the season enters Week 20 with tonight's Dr Pepper 300 card.

The closest divisions are in Late Model Stock Car and Mini Stock. Four-time winner Dudley Lawhorn is 62 points ahead of five-time winner Rick Sigmon in the LMSC division. Defending champion Dicky Wilson is 38 points behind Sigmon.

Thirty-six points separate first through third in the Mini Stock division, with Steve Lynch ahead of Tommy Dean (second) and John Hall (third). The Mini Stocks will face-off tonight in a 50-lap race, double the normal length.

In the Street Stock, Pure Stock, and Rookie divisions, respectively, Phillip VanDerVeer, R.W. Lawhorn and Steve Hurley hold commanding leads of about 100 points each.

Gates open at noon, qualifying starts at 6 p.m., and the first race starts at 8. Admission is $5, and children under 10 are admitted free.
