OBIT PARRISH, OLEY MELVIN
PARRISH, Oley Melvin, 88, of Vinton, died Thursday, August 12, 1993, after
a long illness at Berkshire Health Care Center. He was a retired building
contractor. Surviving are his wife, Willie Mills Parrish; sons and
daughters-in-law, James E. and Pete Parrish of Springfield, Joseph A. and
Nancy Parrish of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Betty P. and Bob Collins of
Lubbock, Texas; a daughter, Martha L. Peterson of Renville, Minn.; stepson,
Charles W. Carter of Salem; stepdaughter, Clara B. Morris of Annandale;
stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Janet C. and Jeff Johnson of Blue Ridge, Hazel
C. and Gerald P. Johnson of Vinton; brother, Walter Parrish; sister, Dove
Daugherty, both of McKeesport, Pa.; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be conducted at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 3 p.m. Sunday,
August 15, 1993, with the Rev. Walter Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers
the family request memorials be made to the Building Fund of Emmaus United
Methodist Church, Moneta, Va. 24121. The family will receive friends at
Oakey's Vinton Chapel prior to the service.
