OBIT WADE, FREDA G.

WADE, Freda G., 74, of White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. and South Hill, Va., died Thursday, August 12, 1993, at the Rocky Mount home of her special friend, Bonnie Harlow. Born in Alvon, W.Va., the daughter of Mitchel and Jessie Hoylman Alderman, she was the widow of James Oswald Wade, also of Alvon. She was a member of Alvon United Methodist Church, which her mother's family helped to found and build. She held the longest tenure of any employee within the world-wide corporation of Burlington Industries, 53 years, at the South Hill, Va., plant upon her retirement after a stroke in 1991. She is survived by her only child, Johnny R. Wade, former director of Goodwill Industries Tinker Mountain, her daughter-in-law, Lin Chaff, and grandchildren, Elizabeth "Buffy" and Priscilla Jessi, "P.J." Chaff Wade, all of Roanoke. Other survivors include her brothers, Mason and Charles Dale Alderman of Alvon; sisters, Olga Wade, White Sulphur Springs, Mabel Hardiman, Bell, W.Va., and Dorothy Alderman, South Charleston, W.Va. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg, W.Va., with burial at Alvon Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be made to Connections for Foster Children, 302 McClanahan Street, Roanoke, Va. 24014-1769, to help the foster children who brightened her life.
