ABSHER-MCGRADY

Christine Elaine McGrady and John Creed Absher, III were married August 7, 1993, at Belmont Christian Church, Christiansburg, Va. The Rev. D.L. Board officiated. Reception followed in the church fellowship hall catered by Frances Poff.

Given in marriage by her paternal grandfather, the bride was attended by her aunt, Cindy McGrady, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Virginia Allen, Janet Moles, and Angie Emery, sister of the groom. Flower girl was Tiffany Rue, sister of the bride. Jonathan Stanger was the best man. Groomsmen were Kevin and Jason McGrady, brothers of the bride, and John Emery, brother-in-law of the groom. Ringbearer was Justin Beeken, cousin of the bride. Judy Dowdy, aunt of the groom, was the wedding director. The guest book was attended by Jennifer Absher, cousin of the groom. Vocalists were Sue Ellen Martin and Donna McGrady, sister-in-law of the bride.

Christine is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rue and the late James R. McGrady. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Huff and Mr. and Mrs. James F. McGrady. Stepgrandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Rue. John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Absher, Jr. Grandparents of the groom are Mrs. Virginia Absher and the late J.C. Absher, Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Minor S. Price.

The bride is a graduate of Christiansburg High School, New River Community College, and is currently enrolled at Radford University. The groom is a graduate of Christiansburg High School and New River Community College. He is employed by Poly-Scientific. After a southern wedding trip, the couple will reside in Christiansburg, Va.
