OBIT SPARKS, HAROLD WILLIS
SPARKS, Harold Willis, 56, of Bandy, died Friday afternoon, August 13,
1993, near his home. He was born in Tazewell County and was a son of Mrs.
Patty Whitt Sparks of Route 1, Cedar Bluff and the late John Sparks. He had
made his home in the Dry Fork area most of his life and was a 1956 Graduate of
Tazewell High School. He was a disabled miner of the Jewell Smokeless Coal
Corp., Vansant and was a member and Deacon of the Bandy Freewill Baptist
Church. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters,
Clara and Ida Lee Sparks, and three brothers, George, Elmer and Willard
Sparks. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife, Mrs. Phoeba Bandy
Sparks; one daughter, Miss Anna Sparks of Vinton; one son and daughter-in-law,
Marty and Della Sparks of Bandy; three sisters, Mrs. Romia Whitt of Bandy,
Mrs. Margaret Smith of Roanoke and Mrs. Arbela Childress of Route 1, Cedar
Bluff; three grandchildren, Sean, Daniel and Christie Sparks; several nieces
and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Harold Willis Sparks will be conducted
Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with the Rev.
Samuel Altizer and the Rev. Jimmy Dickens officiating. Interment will follow
in the Sparks Family Cemetery on Dry Fork near Bandy. Nephews will serve as
pallbearers. Anna Sparks will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The body is at
the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands where friends may call after 6 p.m.
Monday. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.
