DEDMON NAMED AMONG TOP SCHOLARS

Radford University President Donald N. Dedmon has been cited as one of the top 100 active scholars in his field of oral communications.

An article in the journal of Communications Education listed Dedmon as 89th in his field. He was the only professor from a Virginia college or university listed in the ranking.

Dedmon has published almost 50 articles on a wide range of communication topics. "I couldn't imagine not continuing to do work in my field," he said.

In addition to his job as university president, Dedmon has served as a communications consultant.

One of the main purposes of the study, conducted by three professors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was to give faculty and administrators a yardstick against which to measure their own research productivity.
