OBIT SYKES, IRIS YOUNG

SYKES, Iris Young, 64, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, August 16, 1993 to join her Heavenly Father. A long time resident of Morningside Manor, she was a graduate in 1947 of Jefferson High School. She also attended Tennessee Temple Missionary School. Mrs. Sykes was a bookkeeper in Roanoke for many years. She is survived by three nieces, Joyce Barber, Roanoke, Loretta Paige, Vinton, Lisa Young, Roanoke; two nephews, Don Young, Palmyra, Va., Douglas Young, Troutville; three great-nieces, Pamela Barber Meador, Roanoke, Crystal Flowers, Vinton, P.F.C. Michelle Young, U.S. Navy; three great-nephews, Floyd Paul Barber, Roanoke, Conrad Flowers, Vinton, Jeffrey Young, Detroit, Mich.; two great-great-nieces, Melanie and Sheena Meador, Roanoke; special sister-in-law, Frances Young; her former husband and still good friend, Rev. Marshall Sykes; a stepson, Danny Sykes; two godchildren, Jeff and Cindy, who she always loved and never forgot. Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Marshall Sykes and Gary Kingery officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday at 1533 Wilson St., S.E., Roanoke, Va. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Roanoke.
