OBIT HILTON, JANICE FAYE
HILTON, Janice Faye, 49, of Pembroke, died Sunday morning, August 15, 1993,
at her home, following a long illness. Born in Cottondale, Florida, she was a
daughter of Mrs. Lettie Hicks Bell of Chipley, Florida and the late Oscar C.
Bell. Janice was a faithful member of Calvary Christian Church in Pembroke,
was a licensed beauty operator, and was employed as a teaching assistant in
the Giles County School System. In addition to her mother, she is survived by
her husband, Russell Hilton; one daughter, Dee Ann Meredith of Newport; her
mother-in-law, Ola Hilton Lucas of Pembroke; one brother, Oscar C. Bell Jr. of
Marquette, Mich.; three sisters Joann B. Stradley of Chipley, Florida; Judy B.
Brantley of Chipley, Fla., and Virginia B. Bragdon of Jacksonville, Fla.; two
grandchildren, Hillary and Whitney Meredith, both of Newport. Funeral services
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 1993, in the First United
Methodist Church of Pembroke with the Rev. Bobby Sutphin and the Rev. Eddie
Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park at Pearisburg,
Va. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke
from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that
contributions be made to the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, the Giles
County Life Saving and Rescue Squad or the charity of your choice.
