OTHERS ALSO PARTICIPATED

I COMMEND the Roanoke Times & World-News as a sophisticated newspaper whose editorial pages particularly please me as fair, thoughtful and articulate. Of course, I know that f+iyouo know that the compliment means I generally share the opinion of your writers. I especially enjoy Paxton Davis' column, and was delighted by his recent lauding of Harriet Davidson and her family (Aug. 6, ``An honor earned, an honor bestowed'').

My pride in ``our'' paper emboldens me to register a small protest over a July 31 article by staff writer Pat Brown in the Virginia section (``Treated like family in Russia''). The article was good in that it gave an early statement about the Sister City's efforts to support Pskov's citizens in extremely difficult times. But I wish the focus had been more on those efforts and that you had included mention of other local citizens who contributed greatly to the efforts.
