VINTON NATIONAL TEAM LOSES 1ST GAME IN DIXIE YOUTH SERIES

The Vinton Nationals, representing Virginia, lost 1-0 to Alabama in Monday's opening round of the Dixie Youth League 11-12 World Series at West Montro, La.

Brad Gusler and Matt McGuire combined to pitch a six-hitter for Vinton, but a solo homer in the fifth supplied Alabama with the game's only run. The Vinton Nationals played Arkansas on Tuesday night in the double-elimination tournament.
