2 W.VA. MEN CHARGED IN ROBBERY OF GROCERY MANAGER

Two West Virginia men have been charged with robbing a Rich Creek grocery store manager of a bank deposit Aug. 5.

Robert Wayne Ison, 19, of Summers County, and Michael Andrew Hylton, 23, of Raleigh County, were charged last week with strong-arm robbery, Chief Leon Billos said Monday.

The store's night manager was leaving the building Aug. 5 at about 10:40 p.m. when a person stepped from around one side of the building and demanded the deposit, Billos said.

The person then took the money from the manager and fled into a nearby brushy area. The manager was not hurt.

Billos said most of the cash, food stamps and checks taken during the robbery has been recovered.

The men are free on bond and are scheduled to appear in Giles County General District Court on Sept. 14, Billos said.
