OBIT-JARVIS, HAROLD WHEATCROFT

JARVIS, Harold Wheatcroft, of Bedford, died Tuesday, August 17, 1993, on his 78th birthday. He was a longtime horticulturist and landscape designer. He served his country as an officer in the U. S. Air Force in World War II. He was the son of Mabel Jarvis Sampson and Noel Wheatcroft Jarvis. He is survived by his wife, Nina C. Jarvis; three children, Ann Jarvis Vest and Bishop Frank Harris Vest Jr., Norfolk, Harold Wheatcroft Jarvis Jr. and Gale A. Jarvis, Roanoke, Robert Cauthorn Jarvis, Louisburg, N.C.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his sister, Edith Jarvis Buffington, Brunswick, Ga. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 1993 at St. John's Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry and as a Trustee. The family requests that friends who wish to make a memorial gift consider St. John's Episcopal Church or the Bedford Public Library Building Fund. Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
