In recent years, they certainly have been the trailblazers in gun control. Facing epidemics of gun-related violent crime, several states wisely decided to wait no longer for the foot-dragging feds. Among them is Virginia, under Gov. Wilder's leadership.
In the can't-wait spirit, Wilder has won a cooperative agreement from three other Mid-Atlantic states to join Virginia in its efforts to reduce illegal gun trafficking.
The pact, signed by Wilder and governors of Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware during the National Governors Conference, is similar to one Virginia entered into with New York last year.
