OBIT THOMAS, NELSON E.

THOMAS, Nelson E., 84, of Route 2, Rocky Mount, died Friday afternoon, August 20, 1993, at Richfield Nursing Center, Salem. Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Radford College and taught for 40 years in the Franklin County and Patrick County Public School systems. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and Gideons International. Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Alice Turner Thomas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Bill Long, Blackshear, Ga., Sue and Roger Anglin, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Chris Stutts, Jennifer Stutts, Thomas Anglin; one brother, John L. Thomas, Washington Courthouse, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Ann Zunke, Tipp City, Ohio, Bert Belden, Troy, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted at Beulah Baptist Church, 3 p.m. Sunday with Rev. T. Ivey Adams Jr. and Dr. Joe R. Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family suggests memorials be made to Beulah Baptist Church, Route 2, Rocky Mount, or to Franklin County Gideon Camp, 662 N. Main St., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main St., Rocky Mount.
