MIDDLE-SCHOOL SPECIALIST TO SPEAK

George F. Melton, a specialist in middle school education, will be the keynote speaker Monday for the 1993 Wythe County preschool conference at George Wythe High School.

Melton is visiting professor of education at the University of Nebraska, where he co-teaches an annual five-week summer seminar on educational leadership. He was deputy executive director of the National Association of Secondary School Principals from 1980 to 1990.

He was instrumental in the establishment of the national recognition program for assistant principals funded by the McDonald Corp.

Melton was a middle-level teacher of language arts and social studies for five years and a middle-level principal for 25 years in Illinois and Ohio.
