RILEY-ALTIZER

Suzanne Denise Altizer and Tony Ray Riley were united in marriage August 21, 1993 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem, Va. The Rev. Billy White, Jr. officiated at the 7:00 p.m., double ring, candlelight ceremony. The reception followed in the church fellowship hall.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a traditional gown of white silk taffeta and tulle with a sweetheart neckline that fell to a basque waist and off the shoulders puff sleeves of roses and seed pearls. The bodice is detailed with reembroidered Alencon, pearls, iridescent sequins, and buttons down the back into a rose-centered bow. The taffeta apron over tulle full skirt is detailed with beaded appliques that extends to a chapel train.

Suzanne's two tiered, finger tip length veil with seed pearls fell from a crescent of white satin roses and pearls. She carried a silk, cascading bouquet of white roses, purple mums, lavender star flowers, and pink freesia over ivy accented with white baby's breath and seed pearls.

The maid of honor was Dian Shaw, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Linda Firment, Stephanie Kitts, friends of the bride and Angela Markle, Deborah Weddle, cousins of the bride. The junior bridesmaid was Melissa Brookshire, cousin of the groom.

The best man was Steve Riley, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Todd and Kevin Altizer, brothers of the bride, Mike Brookshire, uncle of the groom and Barry Holbrook, Mark Weddle, both friends of the groom and cousins of the bride. The junior groomsman was Jeremy Spradlin, cousin of the bride.

The flowergirl was Samantha Weddle, cousin of the bride. The ringbearer was Zack Kidd, cousin of the bride. Candlelighters were Chris and Jason Spradlin, cousins of the bride. The guestbook was attended by Tanya Holbrook, cousin of the bride. Program attendants were Jason Markle and Chris Kidd, cousins of the bride. Tanya Holbrook was also a reception hostess along with Donna Brookshire, aunt of the groom.

The groom lit a special candle in remembrance of his father, Mr. Billy E. Riley. During the ceremony, prayer was led by the groom titled, "Prayer on Our Wedding Day". Vocalist Barry Holbrook sang "In His Love" and "Household of Faith" and Stephanie Kitts sang "Only the Beginning".

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Altizer of Christiansburg, Va. She is a graduate of Christiansburg High School and Radford University. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Early/Middle Education and is a third grade school teacher for Dinwiddie County.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Barbara Riley and the late Mr. Billy Riley of Lafayette, Va. He is a graduate of Salem High School and is employed as an assistant manager for Long John Silver's.

After the groom gives a surprise wedding trip to the bride, the couple will reside in Colonial Heights, Va.
