GILES MAN DROWNS IN W.VA. WATER TANK

A Giles County man drowned Friday in a water storage tank in Monroe County, W.Va.

A spokeswoman for the West Virginia State Police said Charles Max Burwell, 36, of Rich Creek, was pulled dead from the tank, which was not in service.

The accident happened at Red Sulphur, W.Va., she said. The tank is owned by the Red Sulphur Public Service Commission.

She said the state police do not know whether Burwell fell into the tank, entered it intentionally or was pushed in.

The state police said the matter is still under investigation.
