TENNIS-HOT SHOTS ADVANCE IN TOURNAMENT

The Roanoke Hot Shots beat Washington, D.C., 4-1 in a women's USTA 4.0 regional round-robin match at the Wintergreen resort.

The Hot Shots won three doubles matches and one singles match, and they continue round-robin play today.

The Roanoke men's team lost to Virginia Beach 3-2 in a USTA 3.5 sectional match at Wintergreen.

Winners for Roanoke were Randy Cargill, who won 6-2, 6-1, and the doubles team of Dan Cullather and Marshall Cooper, who won 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Virginia Beach won two of the three doubles matches.
