Bell, a 46-year-old from Hudson, Fla., crossed the finish line in New York's Central Park just after 11 a.m., ending a 64-day, 2,912-mile trek that began June 19 in Huntington Beach, Calif. His winning time was 486 hours, 41 minutes, 8 seconds.
Lorna Michael, 35, of Wausau, Wis. - one of two female entrants but the only woman to finish - was third overall in 586:15:07. She became the first woman to complete a race of this distance.
\ North Vancouver, British Columbia, defeated 1992 Canadian Regional champ Valleyfield, Quebec, 2-1 on Friday night to claim the final berth at the upcoming Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
Others competing in the series will be 1992 champion Long Beach, Calif.; Bedford, N.H.; Hamilton, Ohio; Richmond, Va.; Kaiserslautern, Germany; David Chiriqui of Panama; and Garapan City of Saipan. The series opens Monday.
