PROSECUTOR TO REMAIN OUT OF OFFICE

Richmond Commonwealth's Attorney Joseph D. Morrissey, acquitted Friday on three bribery charges, will continue to stay away from his office until his remaining criminal charges are settled, his lawyer says.

Morrissey still faces a perjury charge, for allegedly failing to report campaign contributions, and one of misusing public funds, for allegedly employing his office personnel and funds in an election campaign.

No trial date has been set for either charge.

"We will turn our attention to the other matters Mr. Morrissey is facing," defense attorney Larry D. Catlett said Sunday, "and we will consult with the commonwealth's attorney's office to determine how best to put all this matter to an end."
