"I think he has the ability to play at the next level," said Liberty coach Sam Rutigliano, once the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in the NFL. "He is an excellent runner who can catch the ball and has great quickness."
Morris, selected to several All-America teams as a senior at Heritage, left Penn State after two seasons. He played fullback almost exclusively for the Nittany Lions and carried 50 times for 242 yards last season.
Morris, 5 feet 11 and 242 pounds, rushed for more than 4,000 yards and 56 touchdowns in his career at Liberty. That included 1,790 yards and 23 touchdowns as a senior.
Penn State gave Morris a release to go to Liberty, which means he will receive a scholarship once he enrolls. Morris also had releases to go to Wake Forest, his second choice, and Virginia.
"Apparently I would have been a tailback [at any of the schools], but you never know," he said. "Liberty has a one-back set, so there isn't another position they could put me."
