STUDY: BLACKS SPEND MORE THAN OTHERS

Black consumers spend three times more than non-blacks on small appliances, twice as much on laundry, dry cleaning and perishable foods, and 50 percent more on footwear, a new study found.

Target Market News, a Chicago-based marketing information firm, analyzed in-person interviews and diaries from more than 2,800 black households. The firm said it is the largest sample group ever surveyed in a black consumer study.

The survey didn't explain the differences in buying habits. - Associated Press
