RELIGION BRIEFS

REFUGE TEMPLE CHURCH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST at 2620 Cove Road N.W. has scheduled opening services and a revival meeting beginning Sept. 5. Bishop Thurman Hargrove Sr. is pastor.

The Sept. 5 service will begin at 6 p.m. Elder Joseph Griffin, pastor of Temple Emanuel Church of God in Christ in Bridgeport, Conn., will lead nightly revival services Sept. 6-10 at 7.

A second series of services at 7 p.m. will be held Sept. 13-17 with Elder Michael Johns, assistant pastor of Greater Refuge Temple in Washington, preaching.

\ THE TURNING POINT, a shelter for battered women and children operated by the Salvation Army, received nearly $950 from a recent benefit concert by Holy Wind, a contemporary Christian music group, at Calvary Baptist Church.
