SEPTEMBERFEST SEEKS CHILI COOKS

The 1993 Septemberfest is looking for chili cooks to compete in this year's cookoff, a feature of the annual Septemberfest street festival organized by Main Street Radford. The cookoff will be Sept. 11.

Hot Chilies Restaurant and Bar will sponsor the cookoff, which is sanctioned by the International Chili Society. Radford's winner automatically will advance to the finals at the Virginia State Championship Chili Cookoff, held each May in Roanoke.

The winner also gets $100 in cash and special prizes.

The state champion represents Virginia at the World Championship Chili Cookoff.

Three-time state champ Charlie Whitescarver is organizing this year's Septemberfest cookoff.

The entry fee is $25, and all entrants must belong to the International Chili Society.

Chili must be prepared from scratch at the cookoff.

Entry forms are available at Hot Chilies and at Gallery Cafe Books and More in the Norwood Center, 1115 Norwood St.

For more information, call Whitescarver, 633-2726.
