OBIT-HAMPTON, VANCE G. ("BUCK")

HAMPTON, Vance G. ("Buck"), 62, of Charlottesville, departed this life on August 27, 1993. Vance was born July 28, 1931, in North Carolina, the son of the late Stephen C. and Mary Bolejack Hampton of Roanoke. He was a former employee of Sperry and recently retired after 23 years from the University of Virginia, Dept. of Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Reactor Facility. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Vance was the loving husband and best friend for 43 years to his wife, Marjorie Harris Hampton; loving, devoted father of three chidren, Mary Ellen (Tina) Bruce of Charlottesville, Robert Edward Hampton of Herndon, Carla Marlene Hampton of Virginia Beach; grandfather of three special grandchildren, Robert Alan Bruce, Jennifer Eileen Bruce, both of Charlottesville, and Laura Lynn (Little Red) Hampton of Herndon; also surviving are one brother, S. Chester Hampton of Roanoke; two sisters, Vivian H. Richardson of Collinsville and Doris H. Richards of Roanoke. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 30, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Byron Wilkinson and Mr. Norman Allen officiating. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
