OVERSTREET, Clifford H., 69, of Sumter, S.C., died Tuesday, August 24,
1993, at Shaw Air Force Base Hospital. Born in Roanoke, he was a son of the
late George M. and Robbie Musgrove Overstreet. Mr. Overstreet was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Senior
Master Sergeant, with 28 years of service, and also served in the U.S. Army
for 2 years. He was a World War II and Vietnam veteran. Surviving are his
wife, Mrs. Mae Brewer Overstreet; two sons, John C. Overstreet of Sumter, S.C.
and Charles Edward Overstreet of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Kathy
George of Knoxville, Tenn.; two stepsons, Donald L. Lydick Jr. of Sumter, S.C.
and Travis E. Lydick of Kadena Air Base, Okinawa; one stepdaughter, Mrs.
Brenda Tully of Holly Ridge, N.C.; one brother, George M. Overstreet of Salem;
two sisters, Mrs. Emma Gross of Roanoke and Mrs. Juanita Green of Richmond;
five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at
11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Elmore-Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Les
Odom officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery
with military honors. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
