Peters Creek Church of the Brethren was the site of the recent wedding of Sonja Jean Black and Joseph Richard Assaid on August 28, 1993. Paster Pete Bain united the two in marriage. Their reception was held at the house of the bride's aunt and uncle.

The matron of honor was Debi Keelean, sister of the bride. The maid of honor was Laura McCurdy, cousin of the bride.

The best man was Thomas S. Assaid, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Bart Edmunds, friend of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Black, of Troutville. She is a graduate of Lord Botetourt High School and is employed at the Postal Credit Union.

The bridegroom is a the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas S. Assaid, of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and is employed by the J. Edmunds Company.

After a wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Roanoke.
