TURNER-HIGGINBOTHAM

Anne Bowles Higginbotham and John H. Turner III were united in marriage on August 28, 1993 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem, Virginia, with the right Reverent Doctor Robert T. Copenhaver officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rembe Higginbotham of Roanoke, Virginia. The groom is the son of Mr. John Henderson Turner Jr., of Roanoke, and Mrs. Lynn Pitzer Sites of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Roanoke Country Club.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of silk shantung edged with a band of silk soutage and dimensional flowers on the sleeves with a sweetheart neckline. Appliques of reembroidered Alencon lace with pearls defined the bodice and Basque waist. The matching headpiece of silk lace and pearl petals held a chapel length train.

Miss Kimberly Grant Macdonald of Alexandria, Virginia was maid of honor. Miss Elizabeth Trent Higginbotham of Roanoke, Virginia was her sister's junior maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Miss Anne Morrison Johnson of Wayzata, Minnesota; Mrs. Debra Walker of Glen Allen, Virginia; Miss Mary Beth Malloy of Chesapeake, Virginia; Miss Blair Wentworth Turner of Charlottesville, Virginia; Miss Catherine Wendy Jane Bowles of Alexandria, Virginia; Miss Karen Kelly Bumgarner of Roanoke, Virginia; Mrs. Catherine Bowles-Applestein; and Miss Carol Cranwell of Vinton, Virginia. Rachel Higginbotham, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl.

The groom's father, John Henderson Turner Jr., served as best man. The groomsmen were Mr. William Hunter Powell III of Los Angeles, California; Mr. Richard Davis Ellis of Roanoke, Virginia; Mr. Kyle McWhorter Johnson of Charlotte, North Carolina; Mr. Richard Joseph Grayson III of Roanoke, Virginia; Mr. Brian Scott Canaday of Forest City, North Carolina; Mr. Kevin Joseph Kinney of Lansing, Michigan; Mr. Boyd Franklin Coyner of Atlanta, Georgia; Mr. Glenn Oswald Thornhill III of Naples, Florida, and Mr. Paul Raymond Biggio of Roanoke, Virginia. Luke Higginbotham, cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Fortune Bowles and the late Letcher Hill Bowles of Salem, Virginia and Mr. and Mrs. Demah Jacob Higginbotham of Roanoke, Virginia. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Patricia Mack Pitzer and the late Mr. Blair Pitzer of Roanoke, Virginia and the late Capt. and Mrs. John Henderson Turner of Southern Pines, North Carolina.

The bride graduated from Cave Spring High School, attended Oxford University and received her Bachelor of Art degree in International Relations from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. She is presently employed by Giorgio, Inc. in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Turner is a graduate of St. James School in St. James, Maryland and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. He is currently attending Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Turner is presently a law clerk for Judge Norman D. Shinkle in Lansing, Michigan.

Following a wedding trip to Bermuda, the couple will return to Michigan. Upon completion of law school the couple will reside in Virginia.
