WITHERS-HAMMOND

On August 28, 1993, Nancy Carol Hammond and Wayne O'Neal Withers, Jr. were united in marriage at Lee Chapel in Lexington. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Gerald Hewitt of Winston-Salem, N.C., cousin of the groom. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Washington & Lee University Alumni House.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack S. Hammond of Roanoke, are the parents of the bride. the bride was escorted down the aisle by her father.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne O'Neal Withers, Sr., of Plantation, Fla. are the parents of the groom. He is also the grandson of Mrs. Lucille Withers of Maiden, N.C.

The bride's sister, Ms. Linda Hammond of Roanoke, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Julie Withers, sister-in-law of the groom, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Mrs. Molly Thomas of Hardy; Ms. Mary Dickens of Purcellville; and Mrs. Donna Stevens of Roanoke.

Mr. Timothy Withers, brother of the groom, of Winston-Salem, was best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Robert Hammond, brother of the bride, of Salem; Mr. George Crowell, Jr., uncle of the groom, of Lenoir, N.C.; Mr. Walter Connolly ofLouisville, Ky.; and Mr. Patrick Sharpe of Martinsville.

Christopher Stevens and Tiffany Stevens, son and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Stevens, of Roanoke, served as ringbearer and flowergirl.

Ms. Paula Hubbard of Roanoke, friend of the bride, was guestbook attendant.

Nancy is a graduate of William Fleming High School and Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke. She is employed by the U.S. Treasury Dept. in Sterling, Va. Wayne is a graduate of Plantation High School in Plantation, Fla., Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla, and Washington & Lee School of Law. He is employed by Gardner,Gardner, Barrow & Sharpe law firm in Martinsville.

the newlyweds will honeymoon along the coast of South Carolina.
