According to authorities, 66-year-old Lewis McAfee was killed Tuesday in Mecklenburg County, N.C. Witnesses told police they saw his body being loaded into a car by his alleged assailants.
A spokesman for the Mecklenburg County Police Department said he did not know why McAfee's body was brought to Virginia before being discarded.
He said the body's location was determined through statements given by the suspects after their arrest in North Carolina several days after the killing.
McAfee's body was found off Virginia 603 near the Floyd-Carroll county line after a two-day search.
Robbery was the apparent motive. All those charged in the case, including one male teen-ager, are residents of Huntersville, N.C.
