McGuire won the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car feature race of the Affiliated Electronics 300 at Franklin County Speedway. The win was McGuire's sixth of the season, breaking a three-way tie with Dudley Lawhorn and Rick Sigmon, 1-2 in points.
McGuire, starting on the outside, overtook pole-sitter Dicky Wilson on the first turn. McGuire survived three caution flags in the first 10 laps and coasted to the win.
The cautions derailed Frankie Pennington, Rick Sigmon and Rodney "Six-Pack" Cundiff, three of the top six qualifiers. That left only Wilson, and Tim McGuire as serious contenders.
Wilson, defending points champion, finished second, three car-lengths behind. Tim McGuire took third. Harvey Harrison and Jeff Agnew finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the Mini Stock opener, Ford running mates James Cox and Carlton Clark placed 1-2, their best finishes of the season. Tommy Dean rallied from a mid-race spin-out with points leader Steve Lynch to finish third.
Dale Marlowe led from start to finish in the Street Stock contest, holding off points leader Phillip VanDerVeer (second) and Mike Dudley (third). The victory was Marlowe's first of the year.
Pure Stock points leader R.W. Lawhorn opened a commanding lead in the standings with yet another win. Greg Testor, making his first FCS appearance of 1993, placed second, ahead of Kenny McKinney. McKinney is second in the points, but trails Lawhorn by 138.
Randy Moore, from King, N.C., won the Rookie competition, besting the field in his first visit to Callaway. Gary Clifton and Jimmy Wilson placed second and third, respectively.
